Take advantage of Quarantine to start your dream job from home

How many times have you thought of starting a business at home but never had the time? How many times have you wished you could spend more time at home to work on what you wanted? Well, even though these are hard times for all, this could be the perfect moment to work on following that wish. But starting a business is never easy especially when you don’t know where to start, so here are some tips to stay productive and take advantage of all the time you have.

Set a routine:

This is the most important point for anyone who is trying to be productive during the quarantine. Not only will it help you get through this easier but it will help you to organize all your time and help you to see how much time you can give to starting this new endeavor.

Set an alarm:

Part of your routine would mean waking up at the same time everyday. It doesn’t have to be extremely early but making sure you don’t sleep in will help you take advantage of the day but also make sure you feel more disciplined and productive.

Take a shower and get dressed:

A shower will help you focus and getting dressed will help you feel like you have something to do while staying in your pj's, even though it's comfortable, will make you more relaxed and less productive. This doesn’t mean you have to dress uncomfortable, by any means choose your favorite clothes but staying in your pajamas is a no if you want to feel more efficient.

Find your own space:

Even if you live in a small apartment find a space that you can use as an office, be it your room, the kitchen or even the closet but somewhere that you can go and be by yourself. This helps your brain switch from relaxation time to work time.

If you’ve already started a business but you’re stressed about how to keep it going during these times, don’t worry. Follow the same examples as before but also:

Expand your market:

Maybe this is a scary idea but if your existing clientele isn’t using your services then a good idea, for now, could be to expand in other demographics

Stay in contact with your customers:

This might be the most important tip. During this period of time don’t stop interacting with your clients. Use this chance to interact with them, get feedback, update your website or ask for ideas. Just because they can’t come to your business right now or use your services doesn’t mean they can’t help you through this crisis and why shouldn’t you help them if you can!

Working from home is a difficult thing, especially if you’re not used to it. Let yourself warm up to it. Don’t force yourself into a strict routine too quickly and don’t fixate on one way of doing things. Try to find what works best for you but make sure to hold yourself accountable, because one big mistake when starting a new business from home is that we have to answer only to ourselves and sometimes we give ourselves too much slack.
